Supervise the day to day operations of the Mortuary Services Team. Support your team by providing timely feedback and coaching that motivates improvement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Develop and lead the team by providing exemplary service to both the public

and fellow organizational team members:

  • Manage of team of 20+ associates inclusive of determining work schedules and assignments to meet workload requirements; communicate effectively and delegate tasks accordingly

  • Ensure that policies and procedures are followed

  • Maintain positive professional relationships with outside mortuaries, vendors, and flower shops

  • Manage flower delivery to chapels, gravesites, and outside service locations

  • Escort outside mortuaries to burial locations and ensure all legal documents are accurate and in accordance with State requirements

  • Coordinate RH vehicle fleet by ensuring vehicle maintenance is consistent, vehicle documents up to date (smog/registration) and appearance of vehicles in good condition

  • Follow safety standards set by the company, state and federal regulations

  • Schedule regular staff meetings by preparing an agenda, ensuring minutes are taken and action items are completed

  • Develop, train, coach, mentor and motivate team

  • Oversee new hire onboarding and communicate job expectations

  • Cross Functional Relationship & Accountability: Requires to successfully and productively interact with Arrangements; Interment Office; Flower Shop; Park Department; Interment Department; Funeral Services and all Rose Hills Departments. Responsible for supporting and exhibiting honest, open two-way professional communication with fellow associates, leadership, and customers

  • Demonstrate and promote the Company’s core values of Respect, Integrity, Service Excellence and Enduring Relationships

As a front line Leader and Expert Contributor, incumbent is expected to meet the Key Competency requirements of Open Communication, Building Relationships, Personal Leadership, Commitment to Quality, Business Focus, and Customer Focus. Meeting the behavior standards in each competency links directly to the annual Performance Review.

At all times, set the example in presenting warmth, compassion, empathy, and diplomacy to grieving family members and guests.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must exhibit good written and oral communication

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to exhibit diplomacy under pressure; ability to quickly diffuse customer concerns

  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor under stressful situations

  • Culturally sensitive to a diverse community and language barriers

  • Self-motivated and flexible

  • Ability to work positively with other people

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and differentiate level of importance

  • Ability to work in a highly emotional environment

  • Basic PC skills with MS Word, Excel and Outlook; HMIS knowledge a plus

  • Bi-Lingual a plus

  • Work with and around human remains

  • Current CA driver’s license with good driving record

  • Must be able to pass a lift test with the ability to lift 80+ lbs. (pre-employment physical and lifting test required)

  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays

  • Minimum 3 year experience in previous mortuary/funeral service position

  • Other duties and responsibilities may be altered to support needs of business
