Assist filing team with the completion of death certificates, burial permits, and monitoring disposition schedules to ensure filing prior to disposition of remains in accordance with county, state, federal, and company rules and regulations.
Essential Job Functions:

Proof death certificates prior to filing to ensure accuracy.
Comply with state and federal laws, and with established Company rules and regulations by ensuring that documentation to support the disposition of remains are complete, accurate, and filed.
Stay updated on changes to changes from Coroners’ Offices, state and county health departments, and the death care industry.
Must know health department procedures and filing cycle times; must know causes of death and associated codes.
Coordinate and monitor death record administrative activities to ensure a large volume of death records are completed with high level of accuracy and that records continuously move through our processes.
Provide proactive and timely service for all internal and external customers.
Assist with the processing of death certificate amendments
Work according to safety standards set by the Company, and by state and federal agencies. Report unsafe conditions to management.
Take first calls and take action to obtain doctor information, embalming permission, and removal authorization.
Participate in training and skill development opportunities to improve competency and customer service.
Report to work on time, work occasional overtime, and maintain standard attendance; must work rotating schedule including weekends, holidays, and hours range from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Experience and Education:
Minimum of 3 years experience in a business environment (knowledge of Mortuary and/or Cemetery preferred)
High School Diploma, or GED
Special Skills
Communicate persuasively with co-workers, customers, government agencies, and doctor’s offices to gain cooperation; use persistence, finesse, and tact
Operate Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS)
Knowledge of heath department procedures
Knowledge of causes of death and medical coding
MS Office Software
CA Driver’s License
Keyboard at 40 wpm
Bilingual a plus
Physical Requirements
Incumbent must sit at a computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, stand while filing, lift weight of up to 25lbs., drive a Company vehicle, and walk in outside weather from one area to another.
