The position is a mix of office and on site work. The Boat Crew/ Service Assistant will check all incoming paperwork for the week and check for errors, and completeness, and make necessary corrections. You will contact all families via phone throughout the week to confirm voyage plans and assist with questions and concerns. The candidate is responsible for the safe and secure transport of cremated remains and accompanying documentation. The workweek will be bookended with paperwork and filing surrounding current and closed cases.

The Boat Crew/Service Assistant Position is also a face-to-face Customer Service oriented position.

Meet and greet guests as they arrive. Review details of the voyage plan, safety features and boarding procedures with guests. Final check of waivers and passenger count. Help with passenger boarding. Maintain a clean vessel, which includes cabin prep and cleaning, and vessel washing. Checking documentation for correctness and completeness, and filing. Guiding guests during the voyage and ceremony. Public speaking before, after and during services. Finally safe passenger disembarkation.

Job Requirements:

  • Attention to detail with vital paperwork and forms related to each case we handle. Clear verbal and written skills.

  • Must be comfortable working in the diverse atmosphere of the death care industry. Further must be comfortable working in and around boats. Steady on feet in changing sea conditions, ability to climb ladders and stairs often while holding something. Not prone to seasickness.

  • Must be available to work weekends rain or shine, often exposed to outdoor environments.

  • Able to lift and carry weight up to 50lbs for short periods.

  • The right candidate will receive training in the following but experience is a plus:

  • Line handling, Passenger safety and Emergency response such as fire, abandon ship, and MOB retrieval, vessel maintenance and upkeep and fueling.

  • Position requires First Aid and CPR training.

  • The position is twofold in that you are a customer liaison for the vessel and company as well as a crewmember of a boat that is equally responsible for its safe and presentable functionality.

  • This is a full- time position that requires the use of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Work related mileage will be reimbursed.

  • Crew is required to be enrolled in our USCG approved drug-testing consortium as outlined by USCG Code of Federal Regulations.
