Operates ambulance including lights and siren, cellular telephone and radio communications. Operates the ambulance safely and in accordance with the Department of Transportation's laws and guidelines for operating emergency vehicles. Assists medical staff as needed on inter-facility transfers and/or on interceptions in accordance with state regulations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Delivers quality patient care in accordance with company policies, statewide protocol, and standards of care
Utilizes monitoring equipment and basic patient care equipment, computer terminal and telecommunications equipment
Attends to all patients in a courteous, professional manner; perform tasks for numerous patients.
Completes and submits all documentation requirements daily
Communicates effectively with EMS agencies, physicians, and other health care providers
Operates the ambulance in accordance with safety rules and regulations; company policies; federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and statutes
Inspects and cleans the assigned vehicle and all equipment
Ensures compliance with minimum stock requirements, proper function, and cleanliness of all equipment
Maintains all required certifications as an active EMS provider and obtains renewal certifications prior to their expiration dates
Stays current with required Dignity University courses
Performs other duties as directed by management
MINIMUM Requirements
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a formal approved EMS training course
Successful completion of an emergency vehicle operation course (EVOC)
Experience
- Minimum of 1-year experience as an EMT or emergency vehicle operator
Certification/Licenses
State certified or licensed EMS/EMT
CPR certified
Valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record
Commercial driver’s license (CDL) license if required by state
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of emergency medical care and ambulance operation required
Professional appearance required
Ability to follow instructions given over the phone or in person
Ability to work effectively with others
Must be able to lift and carry 125 pounds per OEMS regulations
Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
Must be able to remain calm during stressful situations
Must have compassion and integrity
Knowledge of computer/ basic computer skills or have willingness to learn
Must have good attention to detail
