This position serves after standard business hours as the first point of contact for families/legal representatives in need of funeral services. The Director compassionately facilitates funeral arrangement discussions then seamlessly coordinates the necessary activities to ensure each request is addressed in a professional and timely manner.
As the need arises answer incoming calls from family members/legal representatives between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
Exhibiting concern and empathy, obtain or confirm deceased and family contact information; discusses if pre-need arrangements have been made or at-need arrangements are necessary
Discusses and confirms desired schedules and location of services with family
Dispatches technicians for removal in accordance with state, local guidelines while honoring deceased religious customs
Contacts the designated funeral home director and/or cemetery to initiate the family’s request, in some cases next day services may be required
Initiates as needed other calls to vendors that support funeral services
- Current license Funeral Director within the practicing state preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work ongoing after standard business hours
Ability by phone to show compassion and empathy
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated understanding of religious customs; exposure to Jewish Funeral customs desired
Ability to work under minimal supervision
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to accomplish deadlines
Ability to proficiently use proprietary software in the administration of responsibilities
