POSITION OVERVIEW

The Program Manager is responsible for providing strategic and thought leadership expertise in the areas of Program and Project Management. In this role, the Program Manager will manage a portfolio of complex or large projects spanning one or more areas of the business and may be responsible for managing multiple projects and/or programs of work at the same time.

This position requires strong business acumen skills, experience managing complex and technology-driven initiatives, and the proven ability to strategize and implement high-level program objectives to achieve desired business results. Integral to delivering these results will be the ability to monitor and control project resources, schedules, and financials throughout the full project life cycle. This includes the management of risks, issues, assumptions, action logs; resource forecasting; change control; dependency management; and program and project status reporting.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Full program life cycle ownership: successful delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment and post deployment support for multiple large-scale, multi-work stream projects simultaneously.

  • Daily program management throughout the program life cycle.

  • Provide improvement recommendations for program management processes currently in use.

  • Manage the development of high quality executive-level presentations; deliver information in a clear and concise fashion.

  • Effectively manage relationships and communication of program information both internally and with external partners; act as primary contact for program and project team related information.

  • Develop program metrics and dashboards to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.

  • Create program reports, schedules, budgets, presentations and related performance metrics.

  • Develop insights based on analysis of results and communicate key findings to various levels of program leadership to facilitate data-driven decision-making.

  • Collaborate with program and project team members to develop detailed plans (scope, milestones, roles & responsibilities, timing, budget, communication and interface with any external alliance or collaborator partner organizations, etc.).

  • Work with other program or project managers to identify risks and opportunities across multiple projects within the organization.

  • Facilitate program team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision-making, ensuring alignment with all stakeholders.

  • Manage programs and related projects within established scope, schedule, resources and budget.

  • Proactively identify any program level issues, concerns or challenges.

  • Conduct proactive risk management: communication of needs, mitigation plans, and requirements relevant to internal/external stakeholders across the program.

  • Review program team progress regularly and use processes, tools and other related resources to ensure effective team dynamics and decision-making, as well as effective interactions with all internal and external collaborators.

  • Drive implementation through the effective use of and partnership with the project change managers.

  • Collaborate with change managers to establish measures of success for the program.

  • Participate in vendor selections and development as well as assisting in development of Statements of Work and specifications for evaluation by key stakeholders.

  • Understand the processes of the PMO and the roles of each team member.

  • Assist the PMO leadership team in developing tools and best practices for management and execution; promote and train these best practices within SCI.

  • Positively represent and market PMO services to the organization.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, or a related field

  • MBA a plus

Experience:

  • Twelve (12) years project management experience delivering complex business application projects, and six (6) years serving in the role of Program Manager

  • Must have demonstrable experience managing programs consisting of multiple related projects

  • Must have experience managing projects with Agile methodologies and tools

  • Must have experience as project liaison between the business and IT teams

  • Proven ability to partner with and collaborate across multiple areas in order to achieve a common business objective

  • Ability to collaborate with team to estimate timelines and project roadmaps

  • Ability to train and mentor others on effective program and project management techniques

  • Continuous improvement mindset

  • Ability to travel to delivery centers or field locations as required

  • Knowledge of Organizational Change Management skills a plus
