Boat Crew & Service Assistant reports directly to the Captain. They are responsible for maintaining the vessel’s state of readiness while instructing and assisting the families throughout the entirety of the voyage and sea scattering service.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
SAFETY
Maintains passenger safety about the vessel.
Acts as First Responder in the event of any marine casualty, including but not limited to, INJURY, MOB, FIRE, FLOODING, GROUNDING, and ANCHORING
GUEST SERVICES
Coordinates the events and timing of the voyage and scattering service
Physically assists guests with mobility and stability needs
Provides a warm and attentive presence to all guests aboard M/V Naiad
VESSEL READINESS
Keeps the vessel stocked with supplies, before, during, and after each trip
Keeps the vessel ready constantly. Maintains cleanliness of vessel, both interior and exterior
Maintains dock cleanliness
Cleans heads, empties trash, washes the vessel, and wipes down surfaces
Loads stores and supplies
Completes paperwork and logs related to voyage and sea scattering services.
MINIMUM Requirements
Education
High School diploma
College courses preferred
Experience
Previous experience with vessel operations & maintenance preferred.
Pay: $27/hr
Certification/License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic seamanship
Excellent interpersonal skills

Work Environment
Working both dockside and underway in outdoor environment. Exposure to changing weather and sea conditions on the San Francisco Bay

Frequent, continuous periods of time standing, walking, bending, squatting, and climbing ladders up to 8 hours per day

Physical Demands
Physical effort and manual dexterity is required in this constantly moving environment
Lifting, pushing, pulling, prying, throwing etc. up to 50_ pounds
Washing, wiping, scrubbing, spraying, sanding, painting, and buffing
Work Hours
Naiad standard operating hours are Wednesday – Sunday 0730-1600
Working beyond “standard” hours as the need arises
